UPDATE: Suspicious package found at county building determined harmless

Apr. 9—WEATHERFORD — The area of Fort Worth Highway near a district court building was closed off by law enforcement early Tuesday morning after a suspicious package was located.

An investigation that began by Weatherford police and taken over by the Parker County Sheriff's Office began around 8 a.m. after the package was found on the steps of the 43rd Judicial District Court building located in the 100 block of Fort Worth Highway.

"For safety and precautionary measures, civilians and traffic were diverted from the immediate area while we conducted an investigation," according to a release from the PCSO.

Both the container and its contents were not found to be harmful.

"We would like to thank the Fort Worth Bomb Squad, Texas Rangers, ATF, FBI and Weatherford police for their assistance in the investigation and traffic control," the release said.
