When Sweet Luna - Creative Cookies owner Jen Christianson gets a creative request, she can proudly say, "I never said no to anything."

For example, when a parent requested custom-made cookies earlier this summer before a trip to England, Christianson made cookies resembling the flag, tea cups and silhouettes of the Queen.

The cookies were a hit because the family in Liverpool celebrated the Queen's 70th year on the throne in June. "It was all they could talk about," said Christianson, who is based in Sussex.

After planning to open a custom-made, creative cookie business and quitting her corporate job in February, Christianson debuted her cookies for the public at the Main Street Block Party in Sussex in August. This fall, she is teaching cookie-decorating classes through the village of Sussex.

She has also done team cookies for soccer with the players' individual names and numbers on each and a vintage boat for a couple's 65th wedding anniversary. She also can put together cookie bouquets and sells cookie painting kits using food coloring.

Christianson got interested in creative cookies about 10 years ago when a neighbor hosted a cookie-decorating demonstration at her home. The hobby grew from there.

She enjoyed the artistic side of it as she was always into art, such as painting and ceramics.

"I wanted to create and to make people happy and do that for a living," she said. "I have all these creative talents and a general passion for this, why wouldn’t I just go for it?"

She made the jump earlier this year, leaving her 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. job in advertising to pursue her dream of owning her own cookie-decorating business.

"It is important to have a plan, think it through and believe in yourself," she said.

"You should just hold your head up high and do it."
