Svehlak named publisher of Palestine Herald-Press

Nov. 7—Lange Svehlak, an experienced newspaper executive, has been appointed regional

publisher of the Palestine Herald-Press, Corsicana Daily Sun, Jacksonville Progress and Huntsville Item.

He is the publisher of the Athens Daily Review and replaces Jake Mienk as the group publisher for the CNHI-owned newspapers in East Texas.

Svehlak has served as regional advertising director and digital specialist for the papers since 2018.

"I am honored and excited," said Svehlak. "I have been a part of these newspapers for 15 years. We have an amazing group of people that put their time, and talents into each of these newspapers and their communities."

Robyn McCloskey, CNHI regional executive for East Texas, said Svehlak's experience and dedication to community journalism will ensure the newspapers continue to progress in both print and online forms.

"His understanding of our readers and advertisers will be a great asset," she said.

A native of Ennis, Texas, Svehlak is a business management graduate of Navarro College in Corsicana. He has more than 25 years of experience in print and digital advertising.

He started his newspaper career in 1998 at his hometown paper as a sales representative. Ten years later, Svehlak moved to Athens as publisher of the Daily Review and began a 15-year career with CNHI.

Mienk resigned as regional publisher to join a family-owned insurance business in Tyler. He worked with Svehlak for the past dozen years.

"Lange earned this opportunity," he said. "I am happy these newspapers are in good hands."

Based in Montgomery, Alabama, CNHI is a leading publisher of local news and information in newspapers, online and specialty publications that serve communities in 23 states.
