Swampscott Town Election Set For April 27

SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Nomination papers are now available for the annual Swampscott town election set for April 27.

Nomination papers can be picked up through March 5 and must be returned by March 9.

Nomination papers can be picked up and dropped off at the town clerk's office. Electronic signatures are not permitted.

The last day for town meeting members to notify the town clerk of their intention to run for re-election is March 9. The last day to object to a nomination or withdraw is March 25.

Those wishing to vote in the town election must register by April 7 at 8 p.m.

Offices on the ballot on April 27 are: town moderator, board of selectmen, board of assessors, school committee, trustee of the public library, board of health, planning board, housing authority and at least 18 town meeting positions in each of the six precincts.

The town requires 50 signatures to run for a town-wide office and 10 signatures from within the precinct to run for town meeting representative.

Swampscott Town Hall is temporarily closed because of coronavirus-related protocols. Nomination papers can be obtained and returned through appointment only.
