Nov. 8—SWANTON — A fire that started in a storage shed before spreading to nearby woods caused about $40,000 damage on Monday, the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal said.
Cause of the fire at 6565 Bittinger Road, which started just after 1 p.m., remains under investigation.
The 10-by-16 shed owned by Robert O'Brien was destroyed and about one-quarter of an acre of land was burned, fire investigators said.
