Swanzey fire chief: Vehicle drives through fence around Papagallos

May 17—SWANZEY — There were no injuries when a vehicle drove through the fence around a local restaurant Monday morning, according to Fire Chief Bill Gould.

Just after 6:30 a.m., a Toyota Highlander drove through the metal fencing around Papagallos restaurant at 9 Monadnock Highway (Route 12), Gould said. The vehicle came to a rest on the business' patio, and there was no structural damage to the building, he added.

The driver was the Highlander's sole occupant, Gould said.

He did not know what caused the vehicle to go off the road, but said police were investigating. Swanzey police did not respond to a request for comment Monday afternoon.

No one answered the phone at the restaurant. Papagallos is closed Mondays, according to its website.
