SWCD to host Not So Spooky Forest Conservation Chat at Hazel Willis Woods

Orange you getting excited for Halloween? We are here at Ashland Soil and Water Conservation District.

Ashland SWCD is going to creep it real 4 p.m. Oct. 21 with the Not So Spooky Forest Conservation Chat. This chat will be a fun walk through our Hazel Willis Woods— because let’s face it: if it you’ve got it, haunt it.

Hazel Willis Woods is a 40a-acre property that was donated to Ashland SWCD in 1980 by Walter Willis in loving memory of his wife. At Hazel Willis Woods, there is going to be a guided nature walk and we know everyone will be “dying” to have some fun with hands-on activities.

As participants travel the loop road, local FFA Chapters will have stations with crafts and activities to learn about wildlife and woodland creatures. Ashland SWCD will have multiple wildlife pelts on hand, and everyone will have the opportunity to learn how to identify each and feel the different textures of each pelt.

On Oct. 21,  Ashland SWCD will be the ghost-ess with the most-est and it will be a fa-BOO-lous afternoon to join the fun.

If dressing as a skeleton is your thing, this is the place to go, it will be hip. You can bring your ghoul friends, because we all know ghouls just want to have fun.  Some skeletons may be bad to the bone or lazy bones, so feel free to set your own pace as you travel the loop road.

Bring the pick of the patch, hallow-queen, somebody to lift your spirits or bring one that is too cute to spook. We just ask you don’t be a jerk-o-lantern, because we will be goblin candy all afternoon and here to have fun. We won’t sugarcoat anything besides the candy. The only cost will be $10 per vehicle.

Bring friends and your mummy, as you are on your walking adventure you can say happy howl-oween or maybe even hello, gourd-geous. Oh my gourd, are we looking forward to this event!

Ashland SWCD Education & Outreach Specialist, Ruth McCrea can’t wait to fill the woods with laughter and smiles. Along with fun activities from FFA Chapters there will also be a selfie booth set up.  We love to give ‘em pumpkin to talk about so when selfies are taken tag us on Facebook.

This event is welcome to all, so come as you are or come as you aren’t. One thing for sure is we will hand out some candy before anybody flies off the handle.  Before you buckle your sheets and head to Hazel Willis Woods, be sure to register on Eventbrite or by calling our office for either 4-5 p.m. or 5-6 p.m. Ashland SWCD can be reached at 419-281-7645.  Either time slot will be very skele-fun. Registration for each time slot is limited to ensure we don’t run out of room for your car.

If there is a ghost that needs to go shopping prior to the not so spooky forest event, just head to a BOOtique and pick up something SPOOKtacular

Thank you for considering our event and for hanging with the fun article! Another joke could be told, but not sure anybody would find it very humerus.
