The Armed Forces of Ukraine previously invited the Swedish government to assess the possibility of supplying and training Ukrainian pilots on the JAS 39 Gripen jets to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses.

The Swedish-made JAS 39 Gripen fighter jet was developed in the 1980s for use in a possible conflict with the Soviet Union. It is easy to maintain, can use roads as runways, and is cheap to operate – all without compromising its combat effectiveness.

In total, there are three generations of Gripen: A (single)/B (double), C/D and E/F. All of them are equipped with modern digital systems, radars and navigation.

The JAS 39 Gripen fighter jet has 10 weapon hard points and can carry various types of missiles.

The combat range of the aircraft is up to 1,300 kilometers, while the total flight range is 3,250 kilometers.
