Sweeping legislation announced to fix EDD

Nine state lawmakers say they are tired of the failings inside the California Employment Development Department, or EDD, and are announcing a sweeping reform package. "We've heard from 2,000 constituents from January first until today," Assemblymember Lorena Gonzalez, D-San Diego, said during a virtual press conference. The announcement comes just one day after the state auditor presented the results of two scathing audits to the legislature. The new bills and reforms that were announced address everything from the backlog of claims to the tens of billions EDD paid out to fraudulent accounts. See more in the video above.
