Sweet Magnolias confirms Fresh Prince of Bel-Air's Janet Hubert for season 3

Sweet Magnolias has cast Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Janet Hubert for season 3.
The actress, who is best known for playing aunt Vivian Banks in the classic Will Smith sitcom, will play the role of Helen’s (Heather Headley) mother Bev Decatur in the Netflix romantic drama.
According to Variety, the storyline will see Helen head to Tampa in a moment of crisis to see her mother, craving Bev's blend of humour, compassion and tough love.

The series is based on the Sweet Magnolias novels by Sherryl Woods, focusing on three South Carolina women, played by JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott and Headley, who have been best friends since childhood, and help each other through the complexities of life.
Season 3's synopsis reads: “Following the brawl at Sullivan’s, Maddie wrestles with the best way to help Cal and works to clear her own emotional path. Helen faces difficult decisions about the men in her life.
"And Dana Sue searches for a way to use Miss Frances’ check to help the community, without upending her family. The identity of the tire slasher sends shockwaves through Serenity, the recall causes unexpected consequences, and there are romantic surprises in every generation.

The first trailer for season three was released last week, teasing heartbreak ahead of the season's premiere later in the month.
Sweet Magnolias season 3 is set to premiere on Netflix on July 20. Seasons 1-2 are available to watch now.
