Fans of Virgin River have found a comfort show of equal measure to get there teeth into in the shape of Sweet Magnolias. And the best part is? Season two is already on its way! Here's what we know so far, from release date to cast and trailer.
What happens in Sweet Magnolias season 2?
The official synopsis reveals the season opens with, "Maddie, Helen, and Dana Sue learn who is in the car. But that's just the first of many surprises that come out of prom night — surprises that reshape relationships all over town. Friendships flounder. Old loves end and new loves begin."
It continues: "Long-hidden secrets disrupt jobs, change lives, and shift the balance of power in Serenity. Everyone is affected. But in laughter and in loss, the Sweet Magnolias continue to fight for what is right for themselves and the people they love — even when those efforts come with a high price tag. Will they find there are some problems not even margarita night can solve?"
Who will star in Sweet Magnolias season 2?
JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott, and Heather Headley return as best friends, Maddie Townsend, Dana Sue Sullivan and Helen Decatur, while other fan favourites are also back.
Those include Chris Klein (Bill Townsend), Justin Breuning (Cal Maddox), Carson Rowland (Tyler Townsend), Logan Allen (Kyle Townsend), Anneliese Judge (Annie Sullivan) and Chris Medlin (Isaac Downey). Other cast members turned series regulars include Jamie Lynn Spears (Noreen Fitzgerald) and Brandon Quinn, who plays Dana Sue's estranged husband, as well as Dion Johnstone, who plays Erik.
Is there a Sweet Magnolias season 2 trailer?
Released in mid-January 2022, watch our first glimpse into the season season in Serenity above. It promises drama, heartache, love and, of course, cocktail nights for the three BFFs.
When will Sweet Magnolias season 2 be released?
Good news! Series two will be released on Netflix on 4 February 2022.
Filming on season two finished in July 2021, with Garcia Swisher marking the occasion on Instagram with the caption: "Bitter sweet feelings because I’m going to miss this group so much. But I'm so proud and EXCITED for all of you to see what we have been cooking up in Serenity and can’t wait for this dream team of a cast and crew to (hopefully!) be reunited ASAP to continue the journey!"
