SWEPCO crews work to restore power.

Southwestern Electric Power Co. is making changes to South Shreveport services through a construction project that will support reliability enhancements within the area.

Brett Mattison, SWEPCO President and COO said, “We’re pleased to move forward with this important investment for our customers to ensure improved reliability.”

SWEPCO said the project spans approximately 2 miles and begins at the South Shreveport substation on La. Highway 3132 and continues along Linwood Avenue to the intersection of Flournoy Lucas.

In this project, SWEPCO will replace approximately 89 poles and upgrade distribution lines with reliable wire size. This work is expected to increase capacity and improve the reliability of service for homeowners in South Shreveport.

This project will take several months to complete and temporary lane closures and possible traffic delays can be expected along Linwood Avenue.

Mattison said, “we care about our community members and our crews and encourage all drivers to take extra precautions and drive safely as we undertake this important work."
