Swimming: Coldwater boys fall to Loy Norrix; MS Polar Bears drop two

COLDWATER, MI. — The Coldwater Cardinal Swim and Dive team fell to their visitors from Loy Norrix Thursday night, falling by the score of 113-71.

Coldwater did see a great deal of success in the pool, winning 5 of the 12 events, however it was the depth of Loy Norrix that proved to be the difference in the final score.

Taylor Eberts defended his home pool with a pair of wins, winning the 200 yard Freestyle while also winning the 100 Yard Freestyle.

Taking home individual wins for the Cardinals were Cooper Otto who won the 200 yard Individual Medley along with a second place finish in the 100 yard Backstroke while Lucas Wischmeyer took home the win in the 100 yard Butterfly to go with a second place finish in the 50 yard Freestyle

Also notching a victory for Coldwater was the 400 yard Freestyle Relay team of Wischmeyer, Eberts, Otto and Drake Thornton.

Adding to the Coldwater effort was Drake Thornton, fifth place in the 50 Freestyle and fifth place in the 500 Freestyle; Ian Stough, fourth place in the 100 Freestyle; Sam Larr, fifth place in the 100 Freestyle; Charlie Gruner, fourth place in the 200 Freestyle and fourth place in the 100 Breaststroke; Brady Massey, sixth place in the 100 Breaststroke; Mason Grabowski, fourth place in the 200 Individual Medley and fifth place in the 100 Breaststroke; Kaz Lindblom, sixth place in the 50 Freestyle and fifth place in the 500 Freestyle; Brennen King, fourth place in the 100 Butterfly; and Sam Pernia, fourth place in the 1-Meter Dive.

The Coldwater Cardinal Swim and Dive team will be back in action next Thursday when they travel to Portage Central High School.

Coldwater Polar Bear Swim teams drop two each

KALAMAZOO, MI. — The Coldwater Polar Bear Middle School Swim Teams traveled to Kalamazoo on Wednesday to face off with a pair of foes in Kalamazoo and South Haven Middle Schools.

The Polar Bear boys and girls teams both lost to both teams in the tri-meet.

In the girls meet the Polar Bears fell to South Haven 83-71 and to Kalamazoo 93-61.

Leading the way for the Polar Bear girls was Sid Aseltine who bought home a victory in the 50 yard Freestyle along with a third place finish in the 100 yard Backstroke.

Also bringing home a win for the girls was the 200 yard Freestyle Relay Team consisting of Aseltine, Ambriah Lewis, Ava Motes and Korrin Brown.

Adding to the Polar Bear girls effort was Ambriah Lewis, second place in the 100 Individual Medley and fifth place in the 50 Butterfly; Korrin Brown, seventh place in 100 Individual Medley and seventh place in the 100 Breaststroke; Lexi Brakke, seventh place in the 100 Freestyle and second place in the 100 Breaststroke; Ava Motes, fourth place in the 200 Freestyle and fourth place in the 100 Freestyle; Katherine Smith, seventh place in the 200 Freestyle and ninth place in the 50 Butterfly; Lily Scheidler, ninth place in the 100 Individual Medley; Harper Anglin, sixth place in the 50 Freestyle; Elizabeth Vogler, fourth place in the 100 Freestyle and sixth place in the 100 Backstroke; Abby Paul, seventh place in the 100 Backstroke; and Maryfer Galvan, eighth place in the 50 Butterfly and ninth place in the 100 Breaststroke.

In the boys portion of the night it was the Polar Bears falling to South Haven 107-35 and Kalamazoo 111-34.

One Polar Bear took home a win as Mason Sabaitis took a win the in 100 yard Backstroke along with a second place finish in the 100 Freestyle.

Adding to the boys Polar Bear effort was Ivan McConnell, fifth place in the 50 Butterfly; Wyatt Lanning, sixth place in the 50 Freestyle; Everett Duff, seventh place in the 50 Freestyle; Bere Wischmeyer, ninth place in the 50 Freestyle; Max Snyder, sixth place in the 100 Freestyle and sixth place in the 100 Breaststroke; and Keagan Hyliard, ninth place in the 100 Freestyle.

The Coldwater Middle School Polar Bears are now entering into the last week of their regular season with one more home meet at the Browne Aquatic Center on Tuesday, followed by a trip to the conference championship on Friday at Allegan.
