May 31—The Sycan River fire is burning an estimated 650 acres on the Fremont-Winema National Forest in Klamath County with no containment as of Monday.

Eighty percent of the fire is lined. The blaze was reported Sunday afternoon 20 miles north of Beatty.

About five acres of the fire area is on private land, where firefighters focused their protection efforts Monday, according to USFS public affairs officer Tamara Schmidt. A Type 3 incident management team took charge of the scene Monday morning.

Forest Road 27 is closed between Roads 30 and 46. A Level 2 "Get Set" evacuation order is active for Sycan Forest Estates. Drivers in the area should be aware of increased fire traffic.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
