SYDNEY CUMMINGS: No matter how weak I felt or how off balance I felt, in my head I just kept thinking there's someone out there who needs this to be something that they see. And someone needs to be able to believe in the possibility of their comeback.

My name is Sydney Cummings. I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and a Fitness, Nutrition Specialist. And I, along with my fiance Dustin, and the co-founder of Royal Change, which is a fitness media company, we post brand new free workouts on YouTube every single day, giving people access to completely free workouts all over the world-- no boundaries, no barriers, just making sure that everyone gets the fitness experience that they deserve.

Royal Change actually formed into the digital media company that it is after the passing of my younger brother Zac. He was 24-years-old. I just had a daughter, just gotten married, and got in an ATV accident, in which he passed away when he was about three weeks post-accident. And in that moment, I think Dustin and I kind of sat back and thought, what if this was our last day?

So when my brother passed, we decided to go all in and post a workout every single day. My brother inspires me every day to continue to think bigger and level up and scale the service that I'm providing to people all over the world who, without this business, I would have never had the chance to meet or inspire.

September 2018, we were actually approached when we were leaving our studio by four guys. They started firing and I was actually shot in the foot. Never having experienced any type of injury as a Division I athlete, as a lifelong athlete has truly gave me a whole different perspective on strength and recovery. I made a commitment if I could walk again and if I could put two feet on the floor, wake up and walk to make breakfast, I could make sure that I showed up in the best way possible for my workout.

I kind of committed to showing that to my YouTube audience. No matter how weak I felt or how off balance I felt, in my head I just kept thinking there's someone out there who needs this to be something that they see. And someone needs to be able to believe in the possibility of their comeback.

If you're looking to stay consistent in a routine, or even better yet, get started with one, my first tip for that is to keep it super simple. I think people try to make it way too complicated way too fast. And there's a really high rate of burnout when that happens, because you're trying to do so much and you can only change so much at one time. You don't have to change your whole life tonight and wake up tomorrow as a new person.

You just have to establish one habit that's really beneficial for you and keep that habit going. My second tip would be to find support in what you're going through. And this isn't an easy task. I know that.

Some people come from families or towns who aren't necessarily interested in being healthy or they're not at that place yet where they're ready to dive in to changing up the foods that they eat or establishing a workout routine. Reach out to the one or two people that you know do this already in your life. And tell them about your goals. Tell them what you're going to start doing. And just have that person there.

And the last thing that I always tell people is don't forget to reward yourself for your work. Listen, this is something that we're investing in. You're investing your time, right? Don't wait until three months down the road to celebrate all that you're doing already.

Do things that keep you going in a positive direction, keep you moving forward toward your goal. So maybe it's something like a new pair of socks that really feel great when you work out. Or it's a new water bottle or it's a new set of pots and pans after two weeks of eating really well. So you're investing your time to see these results. Get those little mini celebrations in along the way to say you're doing great. Keep going.
