Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney has recalled the unusual prop that she used during the show's iconic vomiting scene.

Sweeney, who plays Cassie Howard on the Zendaya-produced drama programme, has helmed some of the show's most iconic moments; one of the most notable of these involves Cassie violently vomiting into a hot tub full of her assembled friends.

The scene happens during the show's second season – and the Madame Web star has revealed just how the effect was achieved.

While appearing on chat show crossed with Bush Tucker trial Hot Ones, Sweeney explained that showrunner Sam Levinson didn't want the scene to involve the method of typical fake vomit, which is actors simply filling their mouth with a mixture then expelling it once the take starts.

"Sam, of course, did not want that," she explained. "He just wanted vomit everywhere."

Sweeney then revealed that a pipe was taped to her body, attached to a pump, with CGI used to erase it in close up shots.

"During that scene, they're filling my mouth with throw up, and then I open my mouth and it just starts shooting out of my mouth."

The former The White Lotus actor added: "You need the pump. It's a very insane pump, too."

Sweeney is due to return as Cassie in Euphoria's third season – but the show might not be back this year. HBO drama chief Francesca Orsi previously told Deadline the drama would return "ideally in 2025."
