Synergy as Wake Forest scores 70, going to 7-0

Wake Forest and Army had a wild one on Saturday.

The undefeated Demon Deacons went to West Point and both teams scored early and in the middle of the game and late.

At the finish, Wake Forest had outlasted Army, 70-56, to run its record to 7-0.

A fake field goal attempt by Army didn’t quite work. It backfired, in fact, as Wake picked the ball and turned it into a pick-six.

Wake QB Sam Hartman had himself a game. He was 23-of-29 passing for 458 yards and 5 touchdowns. For good measure, Hartman added 5 carries and a rushing TD.

The schools combined for 1,233 yards. Army rushed for 416 on 70 attempts.

The Cadets had three backs go over the 90-yard mark in the loss.
