Syrian mother helps quadriplegic son achieve journalism dream

STORY: This mother is helping her

son’s journalism dream come true

Ali al-Mahmoud has been

paralyzed since he was 8 months old

His mother, Ruqayyah Taleb,

quit her job to care for him

When Ali went to journalism

school, his mother tagged along

MOTHER, RUQAYYAH TALEB:

“I used to help him with everything. Even when he went to university, I used to take him - then I attended all lectures with him, but they never allow me to enter the exams with him, so I used to sit outside and pray for him.”

Taleb has reported on various events

and meetings to help her son

And has also tried her

hand at editing

“Editing was hard - although when Ali edits, I watch him closely but age has its consequences, as they say.”
