Syria's mosques open for prayer as coronavirus lockdown eases

Hundreds of worshipers stood in line at the main gate of Umayades mosque in old Damascus for the first time in more than a month since its closure.

The Syrian government has imposed many measures to battle the spread of COVID-19 such as wearing masks, maintaining a distance of one meter between worshipers and only allowing men over 16 years to enter the mosque.

The government has started easing the lockdown which was imposed almost two months ago.
