System Surveillance Pro review

System Surveillance Pro gives you all the tools you need to see what other users are doing on your computer, from the websites they visit to the programs they use. You can configure the program to suit your specific needs, and you can also pause monitoring at any time.

Pros

Customization guide and options: The first time you open this app, you'll encounter a Setup window that will guide you through the process of customizing the program to match your needs. Here you can decide whether you want to monitor websites visited, Keystrokes, Instant Messenger Conversations, Programs Running, File Events, or all of these. You can also configure Screenshot preferences and specify what triggers you'd like to use to initiate a shot being taken.

Auto-settings: You can set the program to monitor constantly, or you can choose to initiate it manually. But there is also a third option, which allows you to schedule the program to come on only at specified times, broken down into hourly increments, on specific days of the week. That way, you don't have to worry about remembering to turn it on or off, but you'll still enjoy all of the benefits of the program.

Cons

No time limits: There is no way to use this program to set time limits for use, either of the computer itself or of specific websites or programs. This isn't something the app promises to do, but it is a feature included in several similar programs.

Bottom Line

System Surveillance Pro is a great tool for keeping track of what's happening on your computer when other people are using it. It's designed for parents who want to monitor their kids' computer use as well as employers who want to make sure their employees are staying on task, and it delivers on all of its promised functions. There are a few features that would make nice additions, but overall, this is a good surveillance option. You can try it for free for 7 days, and the full version costs $39.95.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of System Surveillance Pro 7.2.
