AT&T service out across large area of Florida

AT&T phone and internet service has been interrupted across large areas of Florida this afternoon.

According to the website Downdetector.com, users began reporting having no service at about 3:30 p.m.

Locations with reported outages include all of the South Florida metro area, plus Orlando, Tampa and Windemere.

In the comment section of Downdetector.com, South Florida users are reporting outages as far south as Homestead. Others are from Vero Beach, Coral Gables, Sunny Isles Beach, Pompano Beach, Parkland and Plantation.

A user in Delray Beach said the outage was affecting AT&T’s fiber and DSL services. A Sunrise user said the outage also affected his U-verse TV service, and that his cellphone service was slow.

An AT&T spokesperson did not immediately respond to requests for comment about the outages.

WPBF-Ch. 25, quoting a spokesperson from the Indian River Sheriff’s Office, said the problem has left customers unable to call 911. AT&T is aware of the problem and is working on it, the spokesperson said.
