Can’t afford a house? Well, this beautiful tropical island might fit your budget
Everyone knows that in this day and age, it can be difficult to purchase a house depending on what state you dwell in.
In the sunshiny state of California, the average cost of a home is about $737,900, according to Zillow, which is actually down 4.3% over the past year.
Compare that to the cost of this private island that sits on 5 acres off the coast of Nicaragua — which is listed for $475,000.
That price isn’t a typo either.
“The sound of the Caribbean Sea lapping against the shoreline provides the daily soundtrack on Iguana Island, a volcanic island 12 miles off the coast of Bluefields, Nicaragua,” the listing on PrivateIslandsOnline.com says. “Clear blue-green water dominates sight lines in all directions, and the region’s spectacular sunrises and sunsets make the views all the more dramatic at daybreak and nightfall.”
The tropical wonderland is called Iguana Island, and it could actually be recognized from its appearance on the HGTV series “Island Hunters.” While the jaw-dropping views alone are worth it, the island comes with a stunning three-bedroom, two-bathroom house with some pretty excellent features, including:
Wrap around porch
Dining room
Bar
Living area
Currently, the island has a longtime staff who “is willing to stay on with Iguana Island’s new owners” and staff quarters on the other side of the island.
“This part of Nicaragua earns raves for its fishing, and anglers can cast off the dock for snapper, mackerel and barracuda, venture offshore for tuna, billfish and wahoo or delve into the virgin jungle rivers of the mainland to pursue trophy-size tarpon and snook,” the listing describes. “Abundant tropical fish on the surrounding reefs will appeal to snorkeling and scuba enthusiasts.”
The island can be reached by boat, and there’s room to build a helipad on the property.
