T&C Tried & True: The Winter Jacket to Get You Through Frigid Temps

We all know that moment—or day rather—when you wake up and it is so cold that a wool coat simply won't do. That day arrived somewhat unexpectedly in November and again in late December—and then more recently this past weekend. Back in November, I normally wouldn't have had my puffers out of storage yet, but happened to have received a new parka. The topper in question? The Triple F.A.T Goose Valenti Women's Full Length Winter Parka.

You're probably thinking that a parka in mid-to-late November is probably a bit dramatic—but it was below 30! And I had a long morning walk jam packed with errands! I couldn't be sidelined by feeling frozen. So I reached for the big guns in the form of Triple F.A.T Goose's most full coverage piece—it hits at about mid-calf for me—and went about my morning unscathed.

First and foremost, the length is almost as though you're walking around in a sleeping bag, in the best possible way. Consider this: those days where the lower half of your body is simply not warm enough because your coat only hits at the waist? Not an issue with the Valenti. Your legs and torso will be covered and toasty—the only thing showing will be the top of your boots. Trust me, I put this to the test while looking for apartments in the absolutely frigid weather at the beginning of February.

But this jacket isn't just great because of its length. It also has amazing details, like side vents with snaps, should you need a little bit more motility, a detachable hood, and an inner pocket with zipper closure, which comes in handy when it's storming and you don't want to carry a bag. Beyond that, the piece is also made with recycled fabrics and down, and coated with an eco-friendly water-resistant technology so you won't be drenched.

As far as I'm concerned, this piece is more sleek than your average winter parka, so I feel much more stylish wearing it. Gone are the days of wearing an impractical statement coat (though I love them) on a day when the weather requires a serious topper. I can't say that I am looking forward the rest of the winter season, but boy, do I know that I'm covered when it happens.
