T.J.Maxx to open in Duff Plaza in Ames next week

T.J.Maxx will celebrate the grand opening of its new location in Ames’ Duff Plaza from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, April 27.

The largest off-price retailer in the country, T.J.Maxx is moving to 1409 Buckeye Ave., Suite 102, from its location adjacent to the North Grand Mall.

The store joins Old Navy, Maurice’s and Buff City Soap in the new development at Duff Plaza. Skechers will also be opening in that location at a date yet to be announced.

“Our newest store in Ames will offer an ever-changing selection of high-quality, on-trend and brand-name merchandise at the amazing prices T.J.Maxx is known for,” Peter Benjamin, president of T.J.Maxx, said in a news release. “Our buyers create a unique mix that offers value for styles in every department, and we’re excited to bring this experience to a new neighborhood.”

With approximately 25,000 square feet of retail space, T.J.Maxx will offer a convenient store layout, bright and spacious dressing rooms, and a single queue for faster checkout, the release said.

Regular store hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

With an ever-changing inventory, T.J.Maxx buyers work with thousands of top brands to find desirable pieces at affordable prices, the release said.

“With a constant flow of new arrivals, we offer an exciting one-stop-shop that makes it easy for consumers to stay on-trend with styles they love and save big every single day,” Benjamin said.

The store offers deals on fashion, accessories, jewelry, home furnishings and decor, and beauty products.

To celebrate its new location in Ames, T.J.Maxx will contribute $10,000 to YSS, an Ames-based nonprofit organization that serves Iowa’s youth.

The Ames store will also partner with more than 1,200 other stores in 49 states and Puerto Rico to sponsor Save the Children’s U.S. Programs through in-store fundraising campaigns.
