T.J.Maxx sets opening date for Fairlane Village mall

Oct. 4—T.J. Maxx is opening at the Fairlane Village mall on Oct. 16, according to the company's website.

Rocco Arruzzo, regional manager for Lexington Realty, the management company for Pottsville Commons LLC, the mall's owner, confirmed the date.

"It's Oct. 16. It's very good for the area. It's good for the mall," Arruzzo said.

He said the department store will attract shoppers.

"They did sign a lengthy lease," Arruzzo said of the new tenant.

He declined to provide details.

Assistant Manager Crisalis Lora, who on Monday was at the already well-stocked store, said staff members were looking forward to the opening.

"We're excited to bring T.J. Maxx to town," she said.

Store hours will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. opening day.

Regular hours will be from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Arruzzo first announced in February 2021 that T.J. Maxx was coming. Construction of the store started in January in the former Brothers Buffett restaurant location.

Previously, the closest T.J. Maxx to Pottsville was at the Laurel Mall near Hazleton.

Founded in 1976, T.J. Maxx is based in Framingham, Massachusetts. It is known for selling men's, women's and children's clothing, along with shoes, toys, beauty accessories, furniture, pet items and kitchen utensils.

T.J.Maxx is part of Marmaxx in the United States, along with Marshalls.
