There are already nine local Taco Bells and a 10th is planned for 9410 Buffalo Road, near the southeast corner of Interstate 75 and Moccasin Wallow Road.
A ground-up restaurant, serving Mexican-style fast food, would be constructed in the middle of the North River-Parrish growth hot spot, according to paperwork filed with Manatee County Development Services.
Glen Bell opened the first Taco Bell restaurant in 1962 in Downey, California. Retired Los Angeles policeman Kermit Becky became Taco Bell’s first franchisee in 1964, opening a restaurant in Torrance, California.
There are now about 7,200 Taco Bell restaurants that serve more than 40 million customers each week in the U.S., according to the company.
