Taco Bell opens new location at Cal Poly, and you can get free food today

Cal Poly students have a new spot to get their fast-food fix as Taco Bell has opened its first location on campus.

The new Taco Bell location in the Poly Canyon Village housing community was set to celebrate its grand opening on Wednesday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., according to a news release from the university on Tuesday.

“The campus community is invited to Poly Canyon Village to celebrate the new venue with free crunchy tacos, Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Tacos, chips and nacho cheese sauce, cinnamon twists and prize giveaways” during Wednesday’s grand opening, the news release said.

The popular restaurant was one of the top desired national chains requested by students in surveys, listening sessions and other feedback methods, the university said.

Cal Poly also has chain restaurants such as Subway, Jamba Juice and Einstein Bros. on campus.

Taco Bell will be open on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m., and weekends from 10:30 a.m. to 12 a.m., according to Cal Poly.

The location will have a limited menu due to the reduced space in the restaurant, according to Aaron Lambert, spokesman for the Cal Poly Corp.
