New taco restaurant set to open at Ross Park Mall

A new taco chain will be opening a store in the Pittsburgh area for the first time at a local mall.

Barrio Tacos, a restaurant with locations in Ohio, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Florida is expanding to Pittsburgh. The restaurant will be the newest addition to the Ross Park Mall, and is set to open in the fall.

“Barrio means neighborhood in Spanish, and we’re beyond excited to be welcomed into the North Hills and the Ross Township community, and we’re looking forward to becoming a dining destination of this premier shopping destination,’’ said partner, Jason Beudert.

According to a press release, Barrio Tacos is best known for its “build-your-own” taco feature which began in 2012.

Barrio Tacos say that decorations in the restaurant will be the product of local artisans and include “Day of the Dead” styled designs. A patio will also be added which will showcase a three-story hand-painted mural

The business hopes to expand to other areas in the Pittsburgh region after the initial restaurant opens.

“We’re hopeful that Ross Park Mall is a springboard for further locations throughout the area,” said Beudert.
