Taco Tour 2024 plans to take over downtown Manchester on May 2

Feb. 28—MANCHESTER — Save some room for this year's Taco Tour, which will take over downtown Manchester from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 2.

First held in 2011, the event, hosted by the Greater Manchester Chamber, draws more than 20,000 food lovers to the city each year.

Participating restaurants — more than 60 — will showcase unique culinary twists on the taco. Each one costs $3, though there are some 2 for $5 deals.

"This way attendees know exactly what to expect, and it can be a very affordable and accessible event for all," said Lauren Getts, vice president of economic development and strategic communications for the chamber.

The $3 fee is meant to apply to things that pay homage to the taco, such as thematic iced coffee or a taco-inspired pizza slice. It's best to bring cash as some of the vendors don't take credit cards.

The Taco Tour Manchester website was visited by people from almost every state in the U.S. and serves as a valuable exposure point for Manchester area restaurants, the downtown business community and the region at large, said Taco Tour Manchester Director Cole Riel.

There will be road closures, so those who typically park on affected streets need to move their vehicles by noon on May 2; otherwise vehicles can't be retrieved until after 9 p.m.

This year's event will feature a free concert, powered by 92.5 The River, on the M&T Bank Bandstand Stage. Performing acts will be announced in the coming weeks.

The schedule and taco route haven't been announced yet.
