Tacoholics to open seventh restaurant, this time in Sea Girt

It is out with rotisserie chicken and in with tacos in Sea Girt Mall, where Tacoholics is adding to its growing roster of Shore restaurants.

Tacoholics, which specializes in what co-owner Nick DeAngelo calls "Americanized tacos," will open in mid-April in the space previously occupied by La Rosa Chicken & Grill.

"We’re excited," said 30-year-old DeAngelo of Lacey, who with friends Rob Bruno and Lou Raccugli started the business as a Brick-based food truck.

The truck hit the road in 2016, the first Tacoholics restaurant opened in Brick in 2017, and others followed in Manasquan, Red Bank, Point Pleasant Borough, Toms River and Lacey. The trio added partners Steven Bruno and Ryan Gazarek along the way. Since opening their last two restaurants in 2021, the group has spent time improving the business.

"We always were grow, grow, grow, then we came back and made our product better," DeAngelo said. "We've been really focusing on our service, on our branding."

The menu in Sea Girt will mirror that of the other restaurants, which includes tacos, quesadillas, burritos and bowls filled with chicken, beef, shrimp, fish, or fried avocado and topped with sauces like barbecue, honey chipotle, Buffalo, Southwest chipotle and General Tso's.
