Tacoma Store Owner, Son Receive Support After Being Stabbed By Man Who Refused to Wear Mask
A man stabbed a local convenience store owner and his son when the suspect was told to wear a mask the next time he returns to the store while being escorted out.
What happened: A man without a face mask entered The Corner Store in North K Street, Tacoma, Wash., at around 2:15 p.m. on Monday, according to KOMO News.
Jin Hyun, 33, noticed the man and immediately asked him several times to wear a mask. The unidentified suspect then began to hurl expletives at Hyun and later decided to escort him out of the store.
Hyun said the man turned violent and proceeded to stab him when he reminded him about the mask.
The victim’s 59-year-old father tried to stop the attack, but the suspect turned his aggression towards the older Hyun. He stabbed the man as his son tried to knock the suspect over.
Hyun said the suspect walked away “like nothing happened.”
Other details: The suspect stabbed the father multiple times, injuring him in the wrist and neck, Q13FOX reported.
Jin Hyun says he and his dad were released from the hospital. He says his father was stabbed multiple times during the attack but he is stable today.

Hyun believes police may be able to identify the man as the incident was captured on a security camera.
The suspect is also someone Hyun had seen enter the store before.
No arrests have been made so far, and authorities have yet to release any information regarding the suspect.
The aftermath: The local community showed their support to the father and son by leaving flowers outside the store and notes written in chalk on the sidewalk that reads, “Stay strong” and “You are valued,” The News Tribune reported.
The community also raised more than $31,000 through GoFundMe for the victims.
Hyun said he teared up and was overwhelmed by the support they received.
Hyun also shared one simple message to the attacker: “Wear your mask.”
