TAG to teach kids Halloween-themed crafts Saturday

Oct. 26—HIGH POINT — The Art Gallery at Congdon Yards (TAG) is hosting two upcoming youth art activity workshops.

Join TAG for a ghoulishly good time as participants create Halloween-themed crafts that are frightfully fun and perfect for kids ages 5-12. The spooktacular crafts will include making construction paper 3D pumpkins, crayon-resist watercolor leaf painting, painting a plaster pumpkin, making monster sculptures, spider-web yarn weaving, and X-ray hand drawings.

This workshop will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost is $15 per child, and the workshop is limited to 15 participants.

Another hands-on workshop for youth ages 9 and up will be held Thursday, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

At this workshop, participants will learn about the slab technique and will watch a

demonstration of how to make a decorative turkey, with an opportunity to create an animal of their choice. After pieces have dried and been fired in the kiln, they will return on Nov. 15 to add color to their creations with glaze or paint. The cost for this workshop is $45 for TAG members and $55 for non-members.

Registration is required for both workshops and can be completed online at

www.tagart.org/youth-education. Classes and workshops for all ages are available on the TAG website at www.tagart.org/event-directory.
