Jonathan Tah headed a 90th-minute winner as Bayer Leverkusen came from behind twice to beat VfB Stuttgart 3-2 in a classy German Cup quarter-final on Tuesday and continue their unbeaten season run.

Tah found the net at the far post off Florian Wirtz' long cross, after Robert Andrich with a spectacular shot in the 50th and substitute Amine Adli in the 66th had scored their first two goals.

Stuttgart had led twice, from captain Waldemar Anton's header in the 11th, and from Chris Führich in the 58th following a risky pass from Leverkusen goalkeeper Matej Kovar who is only used in the Cup and had shown some nerves before.

Germany player Florian Wirtz set up Adli and Tah to leave his mark as Leverkusen's quest for a first title of any kind since their 1993 German Cup win stayed alive.

Leverkusen are now unbeaten in their 30 games all season of which they have won 26: 16 from 20 in the Bundesliga where they host Bayern Munich in a table topper on Saturday, four in the German Cup and all six in the Europa League group stage.

They join second division sides Fortuna Düsseldorf and Kaiserslautern in the semis drawn on Saturday and played April 2 and 3. The final in Berlin is on May 25.

The last quarter-final is on Wednesday, when Borussia Mönchengladbach visit third division Saarbrücken who ousted record Cup winners Bayern Munich and 2018 winners Eintracht Frankfurt in the previous rounds.
