Taijuan Walker exits after two innings against Braves due to back spasms

ATLANTA — Attrition has set in from all directions for the Mets.

Taijuan Walker was removed from Tuesday's game against the Braves after two innings due to back spasms.

The diagnosis was a relief after Carlos Carrasco suffered a low-grade oblique strain during Monday's start.

Walker's velocity was down across the board on all six of his pitches. The 30-year-old right-hander tossed two scoreless innings with one hit and two walks allowed. He was replaced by R.J. Alvarez to begin the third inning.

This season, Walker returned from offseason knee surgery and missed a pair of starts with right shoulder bursitis in early April. Walker has racked up a 10-3 record with a 3.36 ERA and 1.20 WHIP across 21 starts this season.
