Let’s be real: fans want to see Thor actor Chris Hemsworth’s hammer.

Writer and director Taika Waititi recently spoke to ComicBook.com about a particular scene in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder sequel where Hemsworth appears to be completely naked. According to the director, executives at Marvel or at Disney never had considered cutting this scene from the movie at all.

Waititi explained:

“You know, I think you have a body like Chris, like, you know, even he understands. It would be just, it would be a waste to not show it off. It would be a crime against humanity. So, you know, it’s, you have to provide for the masses.”

Judging by the Love and Thunder trailers, Thor’s fitness journey will be a significant storyline in the film after the character gained some weight in Avengers: Endgame. As such, it makes sense that his new “hot boy summer” body would be shown off later in the movie.

This is far from being the first time that Hemsworth shows off his body and gives viewers what they want on the big screen.

In the 2015 comedy Vacation, the actor was famously featured in an underwear scene that displayed a rather large volume between his legs. There’s still no clarity on whether Thor: Love and Thunder will keep blurring out Hemsworth’s body in the final edit, but many believe that the blur was only applied for the trailers.

Aside from Hemsworth’s chiseled body, Thor: Love and Thunder will mark the big comeback of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie will also feature many characters from the Guardians of the Galaxy films and Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie getting an even bigger MCU spotlight than ever before.

Thor: Love and Thunder premieres July 8 in theaters.
