Tails and Trails event celebrates the extraordinary bond between humans and working dogs

Jan. 12—THOMASVILLE- Thomasville Humane is thrilled to announce its annual fundraising event "Tails and Trails," presented by Top Tier K9, a unique and exciting event celebrating the remarkable contributions of working dogs. Taking place on Saturday, January 20th, at the stunning Pebble Hill Plantation Museum, this family-friendly occasion promises a day filled with live demonstrations, engaging exhibitions, talented artists, and much more, starting at 10 a.m.

The event will showcase a variety of working dogs, including live demonstrations featuring drug sniffing dogs, apprehension dogs, protection dogs, and therapy dogs. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to witness the skills of sporting dogs through captivating field trials. It's a chance to witness firsthand the incredible abilities of these highly trained and dedicated animals.

One of the highlights of the event is the exhibition titled "Identity & Restraint: Art of the Dog Collar," a captivating showcase brought to residents in collaboration with the National Sporting Library & Museum in Middleburg, VA, and the American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog in New York. This innovative exhibition delves into the ancient relationship between humans and dogs, featuring a collection of antique and vintage dog collars, with the oldest example dating back an astonishing 3,000 years. The exhibit will also include a stunning array of paintings and sculptures, providing a visual journey through the ages.

To add to the artistic atmosphere, talented artists will be present, painting live portraits throughout the event. Attendees can witness the creation of beautiful canine-inspired artwork and even have the opportunity to purchase these unique pieces.

The festivities extend beyond the demonstrations and exhibitions, with vendors offering a diverse selection of items for sale. From pet accessories to handcrafted goods, there's something for everyone. And, of course, no event is complete without delicious food options, which will be provided by a variety of food trucks onsite. As a family event, Tails and Trails welcomes four-legged family members as well. Dogs are invited to join in the celebration, creating a day of fun for both humans and their furry companions.
