‘TakePart Live’ Tonight: The Mechanics of Voting

On tonight's episode of "TakePart Live," we'll check out New York's innovative new idea to reduce long lines at the polls: 1960s pull-lever voting machines. We'll also tackle the Washington Redskins name controversy and look in on a few presentations from the TechCrunch Disrupt conference that were as offensive to attendees as they were to pun-lovers the world over.

Ahead of Tuesday's election, New York is rolling back large parts of its $95 million electronic voting system in favor of 800-pound mechanical voting machines originally purchased in the 1960s. The director of the state's board of elections told the New York Times that “it’s the only solution” to the long lines that plagued the last election. Our panelists, including Chris Carson of the League of Women Voters, William Kelleher, author of "Internet Voting Now!" and comedian Zach Selwyn, will discuss all the other possible solutions.

Meghan McCain joins us to talk about her new show ‘Raising McCain’, premiering Saturday, Sept. 14 on Pivot.
