TakoSushi plans to open a new location in this bustling Columbia area shopping center

A restaurant known for Asian and Latin flavors has chosen a location for its planned expansion to Forest Acres.

TakoSushi will open a space in the Forest Park shopping center in Forest Acres, according to a Monday release from commercial real estate firm Colliers South Carolina. The Forest Park shopping center also is home to Lowes Foods grocery store, Eggs Up Grill restaurant and several other businesses.

The new TakoSushi will go into a space formerly occupied by a Baskin Robbins ice cream shop.

“We are excited to be a part of the Forest Acres community,” TakoSushi co-owner James Williams said in a statement. “Whether you are looking for a light lunch, a place to grab a drink, or a hearty dinner, we feel that TakoSushi has something for everyone. Being headquartered here in the Midlands, this location is especially important to us.”

TakoSushi has several locations across South Carolina and Georgia, including one at 1332 Main St. in downtown Columbia, in the historic Arcade Mall. The company also has plans to open a location at the corner of West Main and Church streets in downtown Lexington.

The restaurant has a menu that offers sushi and other Asian dishes, as well as tacos, nachos and other Latin-inspired favorites.

”TakoSushi will be a welcome addition to Forest Park and all of Forest Acres with its excellent cuisine, top-notch service, outdoor seating and fun atmosphere,” Colliers South Carolina vice president Rox Pollard said in a statement. “The space, formerly occupied by Baskin Robbins, will be completely renovated which keeps with the landlord’s commitment to keeping Forest Park a highly important amenity to the Forest Acres community.”
