For Talisa Proctor, the grand opening and ribbon cutting on Jan. 4 will be the beginning of a dream come true.

Winthrop Street Burger King gets $1 million renovation. When will it reopen?

For diners at the Burger King on Winthrop Street in Taunton, the experience has been restricted to the drive-through, while a $1 million renovation is underway.

In the midst of the major overhaul, the dining room has been closed.

The good news? The plan is to re-open very soon.

Lack of insurance, driver's license forces council to revoke Tony's Auto towing contract

Tony's Auto Wrecking will no longer be working as a tow contractor for the city. The City Council revoked its contract on Dec. 19 at the request of Police Chief Edward Walsh, who found that owner Scott Souza had been working for the city without proper insurance or a valid driver's license.

Taunton school board barely OKs solar array amid fire concerns: What to know

The Taunton School Committee vote on whether or not to install a solar array on the roof of Chamberlain Elementary School was split down the middle on Dec. 20, with Mayor Shaunna O’Connell breaking the tie.

Safety concerns nearly sounded the death knell for the project.

Referred to as a “pilot program” by Superintendent of Schools John Cabral, the future of this one installation will influence the extent to which rooftop solar energy will be utilized across the school district in the future.
