Amazing things happen when you ask yourself, “What if?” Take the case of a certain lazy, good-for-nothing bum named Chris. More than 500 years ago, while sitting on the dock of the bay and contemplating his navel — it was the dude’s favorite kind of orange — he asked himself, what if the world were round like a hamburger?

Or oval like an egg.

Most folks thought he was tetched. But determined to prove he was smarter than the average explorer, he arm-twisted a fortune out of the Queen of Denial, bought a couple of dinghies he named the Sunflower and the Panna Maria, and a few days later — just like his old pal Michael — he surprised everyone by rowing the boats ashore.

Straight into a western omelet.

We may not have discovered the next big soufflé, but ever since Buzz 102.5 bit the dust in May, we’ve been doing our own “what if” musings. What if we started our own radio station? Now we could have done it the conventional way — with mounds of FCC paperwork and giant towers prone to falling down every winter — but that would have taken years and cost millions of dollars. But with “Talk Back” solidly entrenched in the online format, it only made sense that we take it to the next level. The result? A pioneering move in local broadcasting. Creating the only internet radio station around focused on Lenawee and Hillsdale counties, Southeast Michigan, and Northwest Ohio. And accessible in all sorts of new and exciting ways.

Introducing … Local Buzz Radio!

Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? “Talk Back” will be there — still on dougspade.com, too — and, just as we did on the original Buzz, we’ll have local newscasts — Monday through Friday at 11 a.m., noon, 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. — and weather forecasts. Plus breaking news updates, special features and lots of other cool stuff, too.

Including music, music, music.

No need to put a nickel in — or wait till the weekend to hear your favorite oldies and classic hits across the decades. We’ve got the best of the ’60s, the ’70s, the ’80s, the ’90s and who knows what else — everything from Paul Anka to ZZ Top — 24 hours a day. And with thousands and thousands of songs in our playlist — many you know and sing along to, some that are seldom played, and the best instrumentals around — you’ll never be asking, “Is that all there is?”

Because we’re adding more all the time.

We’re totally geeked we can finally dispense with all those Facebook teasers that drove everyone nuts last week and invite you to become a regular part of our listening audience and join the hundreds of others who — with no advance promotion or invitation — tracked us down during the testing phase and gave us a big thumbs up.

How cool is that!

So why not head over to Localbuzzradio.com right now? You’ll find a cool player that not only tells you the song title, but also the artist, even album art. Not near a computer, smartphone or tablet? Tell your Alexa-powered speaker to “enable skill,” and when she asks which one, tell her “Local Buzz Radio.” After that, just tell her to play the station. Plus we’re on Roku TV, Amazon Fire TV and Firestick. Yes, we’re a bit like Santa Claus.

We’re ever’where. We’re ever’where.

Best of all, this is only the beginning. A classic Chicago tune if there ever was one. Which is why we gotta scoot. They’re singing it right now on Local Buzz Radio, and we can’t wait to jam with them.

No “what ifs” about it.

Talk Back with Doug Spade and Mike Clement is heard every Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon Eastern Time at www.localbuzzradio.com, Facebook Live and www.dougspade.com.
