Talk About Clyde: Activities blossom as spring nears

Let's take a look at many of the events being planned for the upcoming weeks.

Golf show, craft show, bingo and more

Green Hills Golf Course, south Ohio 101, is having its annual two-day golf show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 25 and 26. The show will have vendors, with the major vendor being Footjoy, said Adam Crockett, owner.

Bone Boys BBQ and Catering LLC, Bellevue, will provide food. The taps will be taken over by Twin Oast Brewery, Catawba Island. Wine will be provided by Copper Whale Winery, Clyde, and spirits by Everwild Spirits, Sandusky.

A craft show will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 4 in Clyde Eagles FOE 2291 hall, 1120 S. Main St.

Meat Bingo also will be held the second Thursday of the month at the Clyde Eagles, beginning in March. Doors open at 5:45 p.m.

Maple Fest set for Mach 12 at Snavely's Sugar Shack

The 2023 Maple Fest will be return this year from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 12, at Snavely's Sugar Shack, 9404 E. Township Road 138, Republic, after a four-year break due to COVID. The festival includes a pancake and pork sausage breakfast served with their fresh, pure Ohio maple syrup in a heated shop. Visitors may take a hay/straw ride to the Sugar Shack to see the making of maple syrup which is for sale with other products. The event is $12 for adults, $7 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children 5 and under.

Snavely's Sugar Shack is one of only a few family owned and run sugar camps. Evelyn and Paul Snavely owned the camp, which is now operated by their sons, Christopher, Brian and Rodney Snavely.

If inclement weather is forecast, the event may be postponed. Please visit their facebook page, Snavely's Sugar Shack, before you come. The event is sponsored by Snavely's Sugar Shack and Destination Seneca County.

Clyde Career Women to host blood drive on March 14

A blood drive is being held from noon to 6 p.m. March 14 at Clyde First United Methodist Church, 510 W. Maple St.

Donors may schedule appointments by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter sponsor code FIRSTUMCCLYDE. Attendees will be registered by members of Clyde Career Women.

Pizza Party for the Pantry is March 18

The 11th annual Pizza Party for the Pantry will be noon to 2 p.m. March 18 in the fellowship hall of St. Paul Lutheran Church, 147 W. Forest St. The event features pizza, youth activities, raffles and fun. Door prizes will be drawn throughout the event. All proceeds will be donated to the Clyde Back Door Food Pantry.

Organizers are collecting nonperishable food items, toiletries and paper products for the pantry. Monetary donations will also be accepted.

Clyde Museum to open March 14 for program

The Clyde Museum will present its first program of 2023 at 6:30 p.m. March 14. It will be a first-person reenactment of an early Frontiersman and Ohio explorer, Simon Kenton. The character will be portrayed by Kenneth Hammontree of Ashland.

The museum will reopen for public visits from 1 to 5 p.m. starting March 30 and will be open the same houses weekly on Thursdays through coming months as well as 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

Summer baseball signups start Feb. 27

Signups for summer baseball are 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 27, March 6 and March 13 in the enclosed shelter house at Community Park. Online registration at flieryouthsports.com and continues through March 20. All signups after March 13 will be considered late, said a spokesperson from Flier Youth Sports Association. Registration is $60; family discounts and scholarships are available.

Sirona Natural Healing plans classes

Sirona Natural Healing will observe their second-year celebration April 22 downtown in Megan Franks shop at 104 S. Main St. Upcoming classes include Monthly Tarot club, noon to 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 and 11 a.m. Tuesdays; Level 1 Herbalism class, 7 p.m. March 16; Medium Rachel, offering Tarot or palm readings, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 18; Ostara/Spring ceremony, a guided meditation, ceremonial tea, ceremony and celebration of spring, 6:30 p.m. March 21, walk-ins accepted.
