CHS volleyball was officially organized in 1973 under the direction of their first volleyball coach, Nancy E. Hangar, who coached 1973 to 2001.

"In the beginning of Clyde Women's volleyball, there was so much enthusiasm and desire to be involved," said Hangar. "Finally girls would be able to choose to watch sports or be an actual participant in the game. I am so immensely proud of the young women who decided to take this risk to play and play hard. They set the standard for players today".

Succeeding Hangar was Brian Miller, who coached from 2002 to 2008. A total of 18 of the girls Hangar coached went on to coach volleyball. Mary Garvin, who will be present, had the team position of setter. When Hangar retired in 2001, the team had 530 wins and 133 losses. Coach Hangar also was named to the Volleyball Hall of Fame.
