Talk About Woodville: Soul Sister studio offers unique products

Those who have driven through Woodville in the last few years may have noticed the store on the south side of the street, with the brick painted black and an eclectic collection of items in the windows. Inside is a mix of candles, art, essential oils, crystals, soaps, books, tarot, tinctures, and so much more.

Amy Schacht started on this path about 15 years ago, reading tarot cards for herself. She took classes offered by Tarot Readers Academy and began doing tarot readings for others.  She first opened Soul Sister Healing Arts Studio with a reiki practitioner in 2019 in a couple of rooms at the back of the Ohio Lime building. When the landlords put the building up for sale two years later, she inquired about the building they owned just across the street, and decided to make the move.

It was the right decision. There was now space for retail items as well as space for classes and for practitioners to hold appointments with clients. And plenty of room for new vendors to sell their products.

Schacht worked at Pills ‘n’ Packages Pharmacy in Woodville for several years, until the store was sold to CVS in 2019 and she decided that she could not stay. She wanted to build a community for people on a nature and/or healing path instead.“It was a big leap. Back then, it wasn’t such a trending business as it is now,” said Schacht. “It’s not a trend for me. It’s a lifestyle.”

Store offers products and classes from 20 vendors

The store now features products and classes offered by approximately 20 vendors and practitioners, featuring everything from tarot readings and drum circles, to reiki and reflexology, and massage to sound healing. There is also a lending library, and a new book club will begin in September. The first book to be discussed is “Llewellyn’s Sabats Almanac.”

Sometimes those who first come to the studio as clients become vendors. Sara Wolf is one of those people. She now sells her line of “Enchanted Virgo” handmade soaps and beard oils at the studio, as well as an array of crystals that she has personally selected.

“I’ve always been into crystals, and their healing benefits,” says Wolf. “I had a very large collection at home, and Amy kept saying ‘bring ‘em up’. So I did.”Wolf also wanted to help bring more men into the store, so after a little research she created her line of botanical items geared to male customers.Schacht believes that the right people are divinely led to the studio, where everything is done with intention. “We’re not for everybody,” says Schacht, “and that’s okay.”

Soul Sister Healing Arts Studio is at 121 East Main St. The store is open from 5 to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays and noon to 6 p.m., Wednesday to Friday, as well as by appointment. Schacht can be contacted via the studio’s Facebook page or by email at Mysticmomma.tarot@Gmail.com.
