Talkin' TR: Newsroom is on the move ... we're now on N. Broadway

Here's a piece of breaking news ... after nearly 50 years at our office on Wabash Avenue, The Times-Reporter newsroom has moved.

And, no, that's not old news. We just moved this week.

The T-R established itself on Wabash in the early 1970s when it built a printing plant. That was followed a few years later with expanded offices. Well, the presses haven't run in a number of years and we found ourselves in a situation where that was just too much building for our staff.

The building was sold to ProVia in October, but they rented space to us on a temporary basis, so we never actually moved.

Until this past Wednesday.

Our new newsroom is located on N. Broadway in New Philadelphia, about a half a block from where we were stationed before the move to Wabash Avenue.

We're now at 152 N. Broadway (rear), but we're strictly a newsroom operation. There is no business office, so we can't accept or process payments and the circulation folks are working in a different location, so we don't have newspapers to sell or distribute.

In our new location, we're strictly a news gathering group.

But we're still in Tuscarawas County and we're still in business.

Here's how to reach us as needed:

On a personal note, it's nice being close to the center of town. We can get to the courthouse just by crossing the street and don't have to look for downtown parking.

It's still sad to leave an old friend and that's what the Wabash building felt like. I've had plenty of good times with plenty of friends. It served our needs for a lot of years, but was simply too big for the staff we have in 2022.

ProVia is a growing company and I'm sure they'll make great use of the facility.
