Every congressman, regardless of party affiliation, is urged to vote in favor of providing further military aid to Ukraine, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stated during a briefing on Dec. 4.

●      Russia stockpiles missiles as deterrent to NATO, Ukraine says
Russia has begun to stockpile missiles to replenish its strategic reserve of nuclear-capable weapons, Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat told Ukrainian TV broadcasters on Dec. 4.

●      European Commission slams outgoing Polish PMs position on permit system for Ukrainian truckers
Poland is adamant about reinstating the permit system for Ukrainian carriers, while the European Commission considers that position utterly unacceptable.        

●      Slovakia finally lifts blockade at checkpoint with Ukraine
The blockade at the Uzhhorod–Vyšné Nemecké checkpoint with Slovakia has been successfully lifted, allowing for the smooth passage of trucks, Ukraine’s Deputy Infrastructure Minister Serhiy Derkach announced on Dec. 5.

●      Ukrainian dairy farmers brace for influx of cheap Polish cheese
Ukrainian cheese producers are struggling to maintain high production volumes, driving up the purchase price of raw milk, which has already led to 5% monthly price hikes in the autumn, industry analytical agency Infagro reported on Dec. 5.

●      Parliament to consider demobilization after 36 months of service
The Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) Defense Committee is discussing amending legislation to provide for demobilizing troops after 36 months of military service, committee member and presidential representative in the parliament Fedir Venislavsky said during a briefing on Dec. 5.

●      Ukraine rolls out Leopard tanks in defense strategy
Ukraine has deployed Leopard tanks to fortify its defensive positions in Kharkiv and Donetsk Oblasts as the counteroffensive concludes for the year.

●      EU reveals security guidelines for Ukraine
Representatives from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the European Union engaged in discussions regarding long-term security guarantees for Ukraine outlining nine priorities, as reported by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense on Dec. 5.

●      Number of Russian soldiers deserting nearly double since summer
The number of Russian military personnel seeking help to desert their units has nearly doubled since the summer, The Moscow Times reported on Dec. 4, citing data from “Idite Lesom” (Get to Forest), an organization that helps Russians avoid participating in the war against Ukraine.
