The COVID-19 vaccine is now readily available in the U.S., but herd immunity benchmarks are still a ways away. Strategies to overcome vaccine hesitancy have turned to rewarding those who are vaccinated with anything from free donuts to a lottery that will hand out $5 million in cash. Earlier this week, Talladega Superspeedway announced a new incentive to those being vaccinated: Track time.

Not at speed, mind you. At 2.66 high-banked miles, the oval at Talladega is exceptionally fast and there are some very obvious risks that come with allowing many non-professional drivers to lap the track above highway speeds. Instead, the track will offer you two laps behind a pace car, just quick enough to experience the 33-degree banking first hand in your own road car.

The offer is currently only available tomorrow, May 15. The opportunity is available to both people who receive the vaccine and those who get tested for the virus, and no registration is needed for those looking to be vaccinated.

Talladega is one of many tracks around the country participating in the drive to vaccinate Americans quickly and efficiently. Just last weekend, Dover International Speedway offered walk-up vaccines to fans attending their NASCAR races in what it claims was the first on-site vaccination event during a race weekend. Indianapolis Motor Speedway, already a major vaccination hub in Indiana, will also be offering the vaccine during on-track activity throughout the two-week lead-up to the Indianapolis 500.
