“I’m extremely excited that my story and characters, that I’ve lived with for such a long

time, can be brought to life on the big screen. I wrote this book in 2001 and years later adapted it into a screenplay, which was a bit naive on my part, since I had no idea how incredibly difficult it is to break in to the film industry," Allain said.

"And I soon found it’s even more difficult if your script is a period piece! But all the hard work has finally paid off and I’m beyond excited 'Mr. Malcolm's List,' the movie, is being released.”

Bleecker Street is releasing the Regency era romantic comedy starring Freida Pinto, Sope Dìrísù, Zawe Ashton, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and Theo James. The film is directed by Emma Holly Jones.

When she fails to meet an item on his list of requirements for a bride, Julia Thistlewaite (Zawe Ashton) is jilted by London’s most eligible bachelor, Mr. Malcolm (Sope Dìrísù). Feeling humiliated and determined to exact revenge, she convinces her friend Selina Dalton (Freida Pinto) to play the role of his ideal match.

Soon, Mr. Malcolm wonders whether he’s found the perfect woman ... or the perfect hoax.

Allain's most recent novel is "Miss Lattimore’s Letter." She lived in New York and Beijing before returning to her hometown of Tallahassee, where she lives with her husband.
