Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare opens new primary care office in Panama City Beach

Panama City Beach — Beach residents have another option for health care, as a new primary care office expanded its footprint to Panama City Beach.

Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare recently opened the TMH Physical Partners – Primary Care at 651 Grand Panama Blvd., Suite 101. This is the first TMH medical practice in Bay County.

Dozens gathered Friday morning for ribbon-cutting ceremony with TMH leaders and the Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce. Panama City Beach Mayor Mark Sheldon said it's a "phenomenal opportunity" to give additional options for health care in the community.

"Quality health care is always needed, and the demand we see is even greater. We're thankful for TMH to expand its footprint in our community to show that health care is important to them just like it is for us," Sheldon said. "We want our residents to have options for great health care, and this is another step forward for that."

Dr. John Woltz is the first primary care physician at this location and is accepting new patients. A second physician will join the practice in early 2023. Operation hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

More about TMH Physical Partners – Primary Care

The new primary care clinic features six exam rooms, a lab and a separate waiting room and offers all the services expected from a primary care provider, including sports physicals, immunizations, preventative health care and annual screenings, treatment for minor injuries and illnesses, chronic disease management, lab work and minor surgical procedures.

Services are provided for adults and kids 12 years and older. To schedule an appointment, call 850-234-3087 or visit TMH.org/PCB.

Mark O'Bryant, president and CEO of TMH, said the new location is just the start for Panama City Beach and the practice plans to continue its growth in the community.

Last year, TMH partnered with St. Joe Company and Florida State University College of Medicine to develop a new health care campus in Panama City Beach.

"This is the first step of a very long and exciting journey. Over time we'll build a larger primary care base," O'Bryant said. "What we recognized is that in the health care environment the most important relationship is between the physician and the patient."

Plans call for an 80,000-square-foot medical office building to be built near State Road 79 and Phillip Griffitts Sr. Parkway. The building is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. It will include a second TMH Physician Partners Primary Care, TMH Urgent Care, an ambulatory surgery center, as well as cardiology and orthopedic services.

Phase two of the project includes the development of a 100-bed inpatient facility, which will provide an emergency center and other services such as surgery, cardiology procedures, imaging and more.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. It will be called FSU Health.

"As we look ahead, we will be bringing a hospital and residency platforms to accommodate residents," O'Bryant said. "This community is a growing area, so we're hoping to create a presence here to be a part of that growth process and bring the best health care possible."

Founded in 1948, TMH is a private, not-for-profit community health care system serving 21 counties in North Florida, South Georgia and South Alabama.
