Tallahassee Police: July 4th 'domestic' shooting leaves man injured, hospitalized

The Tallahassee Police Department is investigating a "domestic" shooting that left a man with non-life-threatening injuries Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred before 2:30 p.m. at the Cedars West Apartments, 2756 W. Tharpe St., according to a TPD incident synopsis.

Shaneika Butler-Gary, 45, was arrested on a charge of attempted homicide, according to TPD.

When police arrived at the scene, they spotted the injured man and took him to a local hospital for treatment, according to the incident synopsis.

"The shooting was domestic in nature," read an incident synopsis by TPD, adding: "This case remains open and active and there are currently no further details available for release."

Sunday morning shooting; no one injured

Just after midnight Sunday, a person said they saw a man run away from a car as an occupant "opened fire," according to a TPD summary of weekend shootings.

The man as well as the vehicle were gone by the time police arrived at the 2900 block of Sharer Road.

Officers did, however, located shell casings on-scene.

"No injuries were reported from this shooting and this investigation remains on-going," a TPD synopsis read.

This year, there have been at least 74 shootings in the capital city and county, resulting in at least 48 injuries and 12 deaths, according to an analysis of gun violence by the Tallahassee Democrat.
