Tamarisk trees burn in Rancho Mirage vegetation fire on Saturday
Firefighters responded to a fire in a stretch of tamarisk trees in Rancho Mirage on Saturday afternoon, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire.
The vegetation fire was in a 100-by-30 foot area at Ramon Road and Bob Hope Drive. It was reported at 12:41 p.m.
The fire was contained as of 4:22 p.m., Cal Fire said.
The Coachella Valley has seen several recent tamarisk tree fires, including one in Indio at Avenue 42 and Clinton Street that burned for several days. Another one in Palm Desert was extinguished more quickly, near the railroad tracks at the intersection of Washington Street and Country Club Drive.
